Brussel Sprouts With Nuts
- 1 lb. Brussel sprouts
- 3 T. butter
- 1/2 c. sliced onions
- 1/4. chopped pecans OR slivered almonds
- Simmer the Brussel sprouts in some water for about 10 minutes.
- In a separate pan, saute the onions and nuts until the onions are transparent.
- When both pans are done, put the sauteed onions and nuts on top of the the drained Brussel sprouts.
Brussel Sprouts Buying Guide:
When purchasing fresh Brussel sprouts , look for firm, compact, bright-green leaves free from worm holes and blemishes. Avoid yellow leaves. In season from November through January. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Ways to spice up plain Brussel sprouts:
Add parsley and garlic, dill, rosemary, cilantro, basil, caraway seed, marjoram, sage or savory to plain cooked buttered Brussel sprouts.
