Happy 4th of July! Celebrate the Christian History of America

Celebrate the Christian History of America

I know America has a lot of problems but we are still one of, if not the, greatest countries on this earth. One of the reasons why is because of our godly heritage as a country.

The fact is a lot of settlers came here for religious freedom. A lot of our “founding fathers” were Christians. There are a lot of modern day Christians living here now and most of our current laws are based on the Judeo-Christian heritage including the 10 commandments.

God greatly values freedom. He will not violate anyone’s free will even to the point of letting them go to hell.

“Finally, let us not forget the religious character of our origin. Our fathers were brought hither by their high veneration for the Christian religion. They journeyed by its light, and labored in its hope. They sought to incorporate its principles with the elements of their society, and to diffuse its influence through all their institutions, civil, political, or literary. Let us cherish these sentiments, and extend this influence still more widely; in full conviction that that is the happiest society which partakes in the highest degree of the mild and peaceful spirit of Christianity.” – Daniel Webster.

Rather than re-make everything I’ll point you to a few choice websites for further information.

I really enjoyed learning about the Christian aspect of our nation’s history while I was home schooling my children several years ago. A couple of my favorite resources were:
