Split Pea Soup Another hearty soup for the cooler fall and winter weather that is also inexpensive and easy to make. Ingredients 2 c. dry split peas 2 T. minced onions 1/2 c. chopped celery 1/2 c. chopped carrots 12 c. chicken or vegetable broth 1/2 c. chopped broccoli 1/2 c. chopped cauliflower other seasonings to taste such as garlic, salt , pepper, parsley Directions Rinse peas. Add broth and peas to pot, cover, simmer 1 1/2 hours. Stir often. Add vegetables, cover and simmer 1/2 hour. Stir often. Add seasonings and simmer 10 more minutes. The Father’s Love by Dave Moore Amid a Frantic search for His Son, a Father finds His Faith. The subtitle aptly describes the basic story line of this book. As a short read (106 pages), I was easily able to read the entire book in one sitting (a plus—no unneeded “fluff” added as “filler”). I could have used what I like to call a “kleenex or tissue warning”—to make sure I had plenty of tissues handy. I frequently burst into tears every few pages. Lucky Bean Soup This is a very hearty bean soup great for cold fall or winter evenings. Make up several batches of the dry ingredients ahead of time or even give as gifts.
